Cookies Policy

1. Cookies and Similar Technologies

Cookies are small text files stored in your browser. Similar technologies include local storage, session storage, service workers, Cache Storage, and push subscription identifiers. Irish ePrivacy rules normally require consent before optional technologies are used. Storage that is strictly necessary to provide a service you request does not require consent.

2. Storage We Use

StoragePurposeDuration / choice
wtf_sessionKeeps you signed in and securely connects your browser to your account.Necessary; up to 30 days, or until sign-out
sidebar_stateRemembers a navigation preference where the layout supports it.Functional; 7 days
freshlocal_privacy_prefsRecords whether you allowed or rejected functional services so we can respect your choice.Necessary; until changed or browser data is cleared
Preference storageRemembers search radius, custom units, dismissed install prompts, chat-notification status, and legacy diary migration state.Functional; until withdrawn or browser data is cleared
Temporary session storageCarries unfinished farm-profile details between onboarding steps.Necessary for the requested onboarding flow; current browser tab only
Service worker and Cache StorageProvides installable PWA and offline app-shell functionality. API chat data is fetched network-first and is not retained as an offline chat archive.Functional; until withdrawn, unregistered, or cache version changes
Web Push subscriptionStores a device push endpoint and encryption keys after you separately enable chat notifications and grant browser permission.Functional; until disabled, unsubscribed, or invalidated

3. Functional Services and Maps

Functional services are off until you allow them. If allowed, maps load tiles from OpenFreeMap. OpenFreeMap receives technical request information such as your IP address, browser details, requested tile coordinates, and request time, and may use Cloudflare to deliver map resources. We do not use map requests for advertising. Separately, when you type a place, address or postal code into location search, the app sends the text through our server to Google Maps Platform's Geocoding service after a short pause to return matching places worldwide. This search can run even if optional map features are off; it does not load Google map tiles or Google scripts in the app. If you choose necessary storage only, map areas remain inactive and no OpenFreeMap tiles are requested.

4. Technologies We Do Not Use

We do not use advertising cookies, cross-site tracking, third-party analytics cookies, tracking pixels, Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, or Meta Pixel in the app. We do not sell information collected through cookies or browser storage. The app does not request fonts from Google Fonts or Leaflet marker graphics from unpkg.

5. Payments and External Links

When you choose a paid feature, you may be redirected to Stripe Checkout. Stripe may use cookies or similar technologies on its own payment pages. Those technologies are governed by Stripe's policies. Opening a Google Maps location or directions link likewise takes you to Google's service and policies.

6. Your Choices and Withdrawal

On your first visit you can allow functional services, use necessary storage only, or manage the category before deciding. The buttons are presented without a pre-selected optional choice. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using Privacy Settings in the app's legal links. Withdrawal removes optional preference values, unregisters the service worker, clears Where's The Farmer caches, and unsubscribes Web Push where possible. You can also clear site data through browser settings. Blocking wtf_session prevents account sign-in from working.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy when our use of cookies or browser storage changes. The latest version will always be available on this page.
